Categories: Features, competitive and panorama sections. Participation dependent on invitation from the directory council of the Biennale. Competition for shorts of less than 30 minutes
Requirements: 16mm, 35mm, 70mm comopt, commag, sepmag. Must be first release outside country of origin and first festival showing. Films must be subtitled in Italian
Awards: Golden Lion for Best Film. Silver Lion for Best Director. Special Jury Prize. Coppa Volpi for Best Actor. Coppa Volpi for Best Actress. "Marcello Mastroianni" Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress. "Osella" for Best Technical Contribution. "Osella" for Best Screenplay.
