London born actors Daniel Day-Lewis and Tilda Swinton have both won Oscars at the 80th Academy Awards in Los Angeles last night. Daniel Day-Lewis has won the Oscar for Best Actor for is role as a oil tycoon Daniel Plainview in the epic There Will Be Blood and Tilda Swinton won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Michael Clayton.
Best Animated Short Film was won by Suzie Templeton and Hugh Welchman for their reworking of the Prokofiev’s classic Peter and the Wolf.
Also picking up statues were, Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street which won the Achievement in Art Direction award and The Golden Compass which won the award for Achievement in Visual Effects.
