European Film Awards shortlist    BACK TO PREVIOUS PAGE

 

Mike Leigh's Venice prizewinner Vera Drake is in the running for Best Film at the European Film Awards, to be announced in Barcelona on 11 December. (Leigh is to receive the Filmmaker Award for Lifetime Achievement at this year's Gotham Awards, which take place in New York on 1 December.) Imelda Staunton's performance in the title role earns her a nomination for Best Actress.

 

Joining Leigh in Best Film category are Lukas Moodyson for A Hole In My Heart, Faith Akin for Head-On, Pedro Almodóvar for Bad Education, Christophe Barratier for Les Choristes and Alejandro Amenábar for The Sea Inside.
