Short films make me want to rock out...
Philip & Kate bring back the Projector With Teeth for a third year, to two central London venues: 3rd Halloween Short Film Festival5 – 9 January 2006
5 days of film and live events
Specials planned for the Haloween Short Film Festival: With our previous two Festival focuses on rising directors and Halloween faves such as Oscar winner Andrea Arnold and cult UK director Andrew Kotting, this year we continue the tradition with retrospective looks at the short films of music promo & TV director Vito Rocco (best known for C4’s recent The Last Chancers), and the Nottingham-based humour of Shane Meadows contemporary Simon Ellis.
And after 2004’s focus on Brit actress Sienna Guillory's impressive short film output before she hit Hollywood, this time around we feature the drama and comedy of rising Brit actor Rupert Procter.
London’s premiere artrock club Artrocker will be back with us after a one year hiatus to collaborate on “short films make me want to rock out”, a multi-media event mixing the best in new live music from Ladyfuzz and Comanechi with specially commissioned visual and film pieces. Plus an Artrocker photographic exhibition and live radio broadcast.
And we welcome Club Motherf*cker to collaborate with us on a multi-media live event mixing the best in girl punk-rock alongside screenings of new queer short films. Plus the Daughters of Kaos Award for Best Women’s Character in a short film.
Plus, after their successful art & music club nights at Koko, Adventures in the Beetroot Field will be hosting screenings of low-budget short films alongside a 'strictly no dancing' bar event to celebrate new government entertainment licensing initiatives, with guest DJs and visuals.
There will also be an overview of animation and film company ANIMUS FILMS particularly focusing on their work with ‘horror’ filmmaker ROBERT MORGAN and culminating in a bar event with guest performers. Plus the Animus Award for Best Animation of the festival.
Edinburgh (and the UK’s!) premiere horror film festival Dead by Dawn will host our Late Night Horror shorts screening, and include the Dead By Dawn award for Best Horror Film.
We also welcome back Fortean Times to host the weird sh*t short films we get sent!
Manchester’s guerilla filmmakers Filmonik will pay us Southerners a visit to show how things are done up north.
The BBC Film Network will give us on-line support, showcasing many of the new films being screened at the Festival.
Fellow supporters of short film Dazzle and Leapfrog Entertainment have their ears to the ground for new talent and will present exclusive specially curated programmes, include Dazzle’s Lipstick Cherry screening of music videos by women directors.
We will be hosting the first in a brand new series of animate! SALONS, an informal opportunity to talk with the maker of a recent commission from the Arts Council / C4 animate! project alongside a cinematic remix of previous animate! work by Buzzard Buzzard.
AWARDS galore! As well as the aforementioned short film awards above, we will also have special awards from the Lux (experimental film), Plexi (music documentary), an award chosen by a teenage jury for the best film featuring young people, and two general Best Films of the Festival awards chosen by the Curzon Soho and the ICA.
The best in new short films. With 400 entries sent in this year, Halloween aims to give you a cross section of the best, most challenging, quirky and exciting shorts films out there, and we look forward to meeting all you lovely filmmakers!
Supported by Vauxhall, Timberland Boot Co, British Council, ICA, Curzon Soho. The projector with teeth is back...
