Stewart Till was announced as the new chairman of the UK Film Council on 5 July 2004, Adam Minns reports in Screendaily.
Till, currently deputy chair of the UK Film Council as well as chief executive of UIP, will replace Alan Parker as chairman on 30 July and will hold the post for four years. The announcement was made by Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell who said, "his proven track record of delivery in the audio-visual industries, allied with a keen business sense and passion for film, make him the ideal chairman as we approach such major developments as the introduction of a new tax relief and the results of a major review of our international film co-production agreements."
