BBC MOTION GALLERY
BBC Motion Gallery is the BBC's agent for licensing all footage from its vast archive, with over 50,000 clips online for customers to search and download at bbcmotiongallery.com. To complement the core collection, BBC Motion Gallery is also the exclusive representative of the CBS News Archive, Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), NHK and China Central Television.
BRITISH PATHE FILM ARCHIVE The world's first digital news archive. British Pathe have re-catalogued and encoded their entire 3,500 hour film archive which covers news, sport, social history and entertainment from 1896 to 1970. You can also license higher resolution copies of the same items for PowerPoint presentations and web publishing.
BUFVC
The British Universities Film and Video Council represents the public sector's moving picture archive. It also produces a range of publications including the Researcher's Guide to British Film and TV Collections and the Researcher's Guide Online (RGO). RGO has entries on almost 550 film, television, radio and related documentation collections in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It features national and regional archives as well stockshot libraries and collections held by local authorities, museums, institutions of further and higher education, industrial companies and private individuals. It enables users to define searches by collection title, subject, index term and medium. Each record has live e-mail and weblinks (where available), and the data is constantly updated by the BUFVC's Information Service. The Federation of Commercial Audiovisual Libraries offers a free service finding experienced archive/film researchers to assist producers, which will probably cut down on litigation later.

NATIONAL FILM AND TELEVISION ARCHIVE The British Film Institute is responsible for the UK's National Film and Television Archive. It also has extensive libraries of books, films, videos, stills and posters - this site explains how to access the material.
SCOTTISH SCREEN ARCHIVE Founded in 1976, the main purpose of the Archive is to locate, preserve and provide access to moving images reflecting Scottish culture and history. In addition the Archive collects written and photographic materials relating to the development of cinema exhibition and film production in Scotland since the 1890s.
SCREENONLINE This British Film Institute website brings to life the history of British film and television, with hundreds of hours of digitised video alongside thousands of stills, posters, production designs, press and publicity materials, unpublished scripts, personal papers, recorded interviews with filmmakers and actors, and interactive timelines.
THE SHOWCASE The world's first streaming archive of community media. A multimedia website of radio programmes, sound recordings, TV, film and video, internet projects and learning materials from the community media sector. Funded by the New Opportunities Fund and the European Union Social Fund community Initiative EQUAL Programme, this databased website allows users to search and access archived materials. It is aimed at those with low bandwidth as well as broadband, and will therefore allow everyone to stream or download material from anywhere in the world. The archive is non-profit and free. There is no charge for programmes or training materials to be re-used for non-commercial purposes. Their aim is to open up these rich resources to new audiences.
